The Black Culture Quests

The Black Culture Quests take place during our summer institute. They are a carefully crafted series of rite of passage/birthright trips designed specifically to serve primarily Black high school students. Our mission is to provide an opportunity for the youth to explore the rich history of important sites throughout the American South related to American enslavement, the Civil Rights Movement, Black innovation, and the monumental contributions that Black Americans have made to the development of the United States.

Every year, we welcome groups of students from all over the country to take part in this rite of passage immersive experience. Through our engaging and thought-provoking programming, we aim to empower the next generation of Black leaders with the knowledge, skills, and sense of pride needed to excel in all areas of life. Moreover, our ultimate goal is to inspire and engage these students with the sites they visit, using this transformative experience as a catalyst to ignite positive change in their respective home communities. We believe that by connecting with the past, we can empower these young leaders to become agents of change in the present, working to build a more equitable and inclusive future for all.
